Doesn't matter what ground your in, if in the Pompey away end, it's always going to be loud, mental and simply heaven!!
My first ever game came at the age of 7, on the 26th April 2003. Wrexham v Cambridge United at the Racecourse Ground. Growing up in North Wales, Wrexham is the team i watch mostly even though i support Portsmouth. We won 5-0 not that i remember anything from the game apart from that it was with my local football team, and we did some football before the game.
Iv'e been to some brilliant game, a 1-1 draw with Southampton when we were expected to be battered, an FA Cup Final which was sadly lost to Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley, fantastic 2-0 win over Newport County when Wrexham played them in 2012 as well. Another great game was the 2008 FA Cup Semi-Final when Pompey beat West Brom 1-0.
But my favourite game was in the 2011/2012 season, the last day of the season and Pompey had been relegated the week before. most teams are down hearted, don't show up and quite frankly give up on there team, but not us, thousands traveled up to Nottingham in fancy dress, singing and bouncing around showing the team how proud we are! The atmosphere was incredible and the relegation party was unforgettable! any one would have thought we were going up not down!! Amazing day, bumped into some great fans from both sides and others such as Derby, Peterborough, Arsenal, Stoke etc on the way there and back. 10/10 amazing away day, just a shame about the result, lost 2-0 but celebrated both goals just for a laugh, never prouder to be a Pompey fan!! PLAY UP POMPEY!!!!!
Worst game, well I always enjoy my games, had a couple of bad journeys home from the Racecourse, Wrexham. Such as 4-2 loss to Alfreton and Lincoln City and a 7-2 loss to Gateshead in 2011. But iv'e been down to Fratton Park in April 2010, Pompey v Blackburn Rovers in the Premiership, a 0-0 draw in the pouring rain, but the pre-match build up was great, as nice little party to celebrate Pompey's 112th Birthday.
Love it, other than Fratton Park, this is home, nothing better than getting the bus with your mates, going to KFC and overdosing on chicken, get up to the ground, cheer on the reds and hopefully get a win, perfect day!
Awful ground, flatpack ikea stadium just an awful awful stadium, boring silent home fans and the ground is miles from the station! other than that the Pompey fans were amazing as ever!
