Inter Miami confirm new stadium opening date

Inter Miami have confirmed that their new stadium will open on time for the start of the 2026 MLS season.

The new 25,000-seater stadium is part of a wider development which will include hotels, shops, office space and the creation of the area’s largest public park.

It is being built in Miami at the end of the runway for Miami International Airport, around half an hour away from the club’s current home.

Scottish side Dundee FC have revealed more information about their planned new stadium.

The club has revealed more details about their planned new 12,500 capacity stadium which will be part of a wider development of the local area.

The new ground will have a focus of sustainability, being all electric with low energy LED floodlights, recyclable seating and a green roof that will harvest rainwater.

Alongside the new stadium will also be a 140 room hotel, crematorium, residential development and an expansion of the existing Dundee ICE Arena.

Italian side Empoli have announced plans to overhaul its Stadio Carlo Castellani.

The Serie A club are planning to spend €45m to completely rebuild 3 sides of the stadium. The redevelopment will take up to 3 years and will eventually increase the capacity from 16,100 to 18,600.

The works will see the ground’s running track removed with stands moved closer to the pitch, as well as a new car park with 1,300 spaces.

Saudi Arabia has revealed plans for another of its new World Cup stadiums in Riyadh.

This one will have a capacity of 45,000 and is planned to be completed in 2032 - two years ahead of the 2034 World Cup that the country is expected to host.

Morocco reveals designs for 115,000 capacity World Cup stadium

Morocco has unveiled designs for a new 115,000 capacity stadium to be used in the 2030 World Cup.

The new ground will be called Grande Stade Hassan II and will be built around 25 miles away from Casablanca. It will cost around £350m to build and should be ready in 2028.

Once completed, it will be bigger than any stadium currently operational in Europe.

Japan to expand Tokyo National Stadium to 80,000?

Authorities in Japan are considering expanding the capacity of Tokyo National Stadium to 80,000 in order to bid for the 2038 World Cup.

The stadium was opened for the Olympics in 2020 and had always planned to remove the running track, however 4 years later and the athletics equipment still remains at the stadium.

The ground is due to be sold off to a private company next year, who have vowed to remove the running track and install extra pitch side seats. FIFA rules dictate that any stadium hosting the opening match and final of a World Cup must have a minimum capacity of 80,000.

Japan has set itself the target of hosting a World Cup on its own before 2050.

Kazakh champions FC Ordabasy have started construction on a new 35,000 seater stadium.

Once complete, the ground will be the largest in the country, leapfrogging the Astana Arena in the capital.

The new stadium should be completed in 2026.

Real Betis have revealed more information about the revamped Estadio Benito Villamarin which will include a full roof over all seats, two new massive scoreboards and an increase in the number of VIP seats from 1,200 to 3,700.

Food and drink offerings inside the stadium would be improved with 3 new large dining areas. The club’s shop would also be expensed as would the museum. A new two storey underground car park would also be built underneath the stadium.

Swiss Super League side FC Sion have revealed designs for a possible new stadium.

The eye-catching design has 3 stands, with a giant domed screen in place of the fourth stand and views out over the surrounding mountains. One of the stands would consist only of private boxes.

The stadium would have a capacity of around 15,000 and is designed to be used as a year-round venue including many non-football events.

The ground would be built next to the club’s current Stade de Tourbillon, although redevelopment of that stadium has not been ruled out.

The city of Charlotte has announced plans for a major overhaul of the Bank of America stadium which serves as the home of MLs side Charlotte FC and NFL team Carolina Panthers.

Improvements including replacing all 74,867 seats as well as new sound systems, scoreboards and video boards. There will also be expanded team stores and new social areas with views of downtown Charlotte.

FC Dallas planning $130m stadium upgrade

MLS side FC Dallas are planning some significant upgrades to their Toyota Stadium home. The club is budgeting $130m to bring the stadium up to modern standards.

Improvements would include new lighting and roofing as well as much upgraded premium, corporate and press areas.

If given the go ahead, the upgrades would start in early 2025 and take 2 years to complete.

The Hungarian city of Budapest will host the 2026 Champions League Final.

The match will be played at the 67,000 capacity Puskas Arena. It will be the stadium's second major European final, having hosted the 2023 Europa League final between Sevilla and Roma.

The venues for the 2026 and 2027 Europa League and Europa Conference Leagus finals were also announced as:

  • 2026 Europa League final - Besiktas Park, Istanbul
  • 2027 Europa League final - Deutsche Bank Park, Frankfurt
  • 2026 Europa Conference League final - Red Bull Arena, Leipzig
  • 2027 Europa Conference League final - Besiktas Park, Istanbul
