Argentinian side to modernise 61,000 capacity stadium

Thursday 22nd October 2020

Argentinian side Racing Club de Avellaneda is to start a series of modernisation works to their Estadio Juan Domingo Peron.

The Argentine Primera Division side will invest £15m over the next 4 years to bring the ground up to FIFA standards, allowing it to host international matches.

The improvements will be done in phases starting in 2021 with new changing rooms. The club will then move onto improving the facilities for disabled supporters before laying a new pitch and then improving the stadium facade in 2025.

Also known as El Cilindro, the stadium has been open since 1950 and currently seats 61,000 fans.
