My first ever season ticket at Southend United was in 2002 in South Upper. I've held 9 season cards i the 12 seasons since then.
My first ever game I went to was on Saturday 2nd November 1997 when Southend United played Reading at Roots Hall. I was only 2 years old at the time and my uncle took me. I don't remember anything about it however I have seen several photos of me at the game. We both sat in the South stand in the lower tier as then it was the family enclosure. Southend won the match 2-1 with Nielson and Marsh scoring the goals.
The best game I've ever been to was on Tuesday 7th November 2006. A sold out Roots Hall (11,532) fans witness Southend pull off their biggest ever result by dumping Manchester United out of the Carling Cup, a competition of which they were reigning champions of at the time. Freddy Eastwood scored a stunning free kick from 30 yards out on the stroke of the 27th minute to send the Roots Hall faithful wild. For the remainder of the game Manchester United bombarded Southend with attack after attack but the Shrimpers managed to hold on. The full time whistle sparked scenes of jubilation amongst the Southend players and fans and a pitch invasion followed.
The worst game I've ever been to was either the Johnstones Paint Trophy final in 2013 or when we lost 3-1 away at Newport in October 2013. Our team were unrecognizable and were sloppy all game. We deserved to lose both of those matches.
I've been in Club Wembley several times and in the Bobby Moore suite several times. A brilliant experience. The seats are just on the half way line next to the home dugout. I've managed to collect several autographs and photos with lots of famous players and in particular with Lionel Messi at the UEFA Champions League final in 2011.
The town Accrington isn't such a bad place but the ground itself is awful in my opinion. The away end is an open terrace and we never take many fans up so the atmosphere is truly awful.
