Arsenal Vs Portsmouth 2007/2008
Arsenal won 3-1
A few contenders for this...
1) 2013/2014 FA Cup Final. Arsenal 3-2 Hull City. 2-0 down, 3-2 up, silverware at the end.
2) 2022/2023: Arsenal 3-2 Bournemouth - 2-0 down, 3-2 up in stoppage time
3) 2012/13: Reading 5-7 Arsenal in the League Cup. 4-0 down, 4-1 by half time. 3 second half goals, two of them in stoppage time, 4-4. 7-5 in Extra Time.
Best neutral game: Forest vs Notts County in the League cup. HT 1-1. FT 2-2. ET 3-3. Forest through on penalties. phenomenal.
Birmingham 2-1 Arsenal, 2011 League Cup Final. Sickening.
Honourable mention (or should that be dishonourable?) to Wigan 3-2 Arsenal. 2-0 up, then conceded 3 in the last 10 minutes, including one where the keeper literally dropped a ball onto the head of a Wigan player.
Worst neutral game: toss-up between two.
Dagenham & Redbridge 1-1 Morecambe in 2009/2010 in League Two. Very boring indeed.
Leamington 1-0 Bishop's Stortford in the FA Trophy. Very poor quality game indeed.
Dortmund by a country mile. Enormous ground that oozes character, and of course the Yellow Wall. The atmosphere: my word. German clubs just do it better. Honourable mention to Schalke, who I felt were slightly louder than Dortmund when I saw each, but Dortmund's stadium is far better.
English grounds: toss-up between Hillsborough and Bramall Lane. Again, they both have character and aren't just cookie-cutter bowls (e.g., Cardiff, Swansea, Southampton).
Honourable mentions: Deepdale, Anfield, Villa Park, Forest, and St James' Park. All impressive and historic, but they miss out behind Wednesday/the Blades where I thought the atmosphere was better.
Leamington FC is in the middle of nowhere, the ground is tiny and for some reason, how do I put this... it smells. Of what, I don't know. But I went all around the ground to escape the smell, and it was everywhere.
Honourable mention (or should it be dishonourable?) to Stadion Maksimir (Dinamo Zagreb), which has such a huge running track that I felt no closer to the pitch than a viewer watching from home.
