About fozza19

After moving down to the South coast I'm making the most of being able to get to more grounds that I've not yet visited. This year ticked of Yeovil and Crawley with hopefully more to come!

First Game

I think it was against Bolton at home in the old Division One in about the 1999/2000 season. I was only about 9 at the time and can't really remember much. I think a very young Eidur Gudjonsen scored for Bolton that day and we lost.

Best Game

Probably the LDV Vans trophy final when we were in our first season of Division Two. We went 0-1 down to Brentford in the 2nd minute I think it was from a Brian Dobson headed corner. We went on to win the match with goals from Marc Bridge-Wilkinson and Steven Brooker. There were around 25000 people there that day at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff and is my fondest memory of being a Port Vale fan.

Worst Game

Away at Chesterfield when we lost 0-3 at Saltergate. It threw it down all through the match, the players were shocking and there was a ridiculous police presence for what wasn't a very important game. Good job it wasn't a long journey home.

The old ground charm is evident here and aswell as it holding more than 40,000 it certainly creates an atmosphere. When I visited there were between 4000 and 5000 Vale fans I think and it was generally a really good day out.

Where do I begin? The ground itself was old, small and really quite grotty. It was so bad that even the toilets had no roof on them. Instead, it was just a wall adjoining someone's rear garden. It probably doesn't help that it was a horrible day and we lost 0-3 but it's worst ground I've been to. Closely followed by The Crown Ground at Accrington Stanley.
