It's not just about the ground, it's the also about the away experience. So some of the best have been Millwall this year (very good pubs in London Bridge), Chelsea in the FA Cup, West Brom a few years back and Hull, for the company and rivalry.
I really can't remember. I was taken to Scunthorpe and Hull matches as a toddler. My earliest football memory is of Boothferry Park though, so I guess I'll have to say it was a Hull City one.
There have been many. Right from the play-off semi final second leg in 1999 when Gareth Sheldon scored the winner, through Jacko's goal against Hull in the last minute at Boothferry Park, past Chelsea in the FA Cup when we were winning for 20 minutes, through to last Sunday at Wembley when we beat Millwall to get into the Championship.
The most upsetting was Scunthorpe v Oldham in the 2006/07 season, I think. We were 2-0 up, then had two players sent off unfairly. After that, Oldham dominated and scored, and our defence almost held out, until the last minute when they equalised. It felt like we had lost. It was gutting.
The most rubbish game, well, there have been a few, but possibly against Hull at the KC in the 2007/08 season in the Championship. None of our players were awake. Not many of the Hull ones were either. A very disappointing local derby, which we ended up losing 2-0.
There are quite a few decent grounds that I've been to. Stamford Bridge is alright, as are The Valley and The Hawthorns, SJP and the Stadium of Light. Not really sure why I picked Sheff U but I guess it was a good day out and a really good match. I also liked Bootham Cresent, and stadium MK has potential.
I also have a soft spot for Oakwell, mainly because of the nearby chippy and the fact that they let me in as an under 16.
Again, lots of crap grounds. This probably stands out as the worst because of the appalling toilets. Other crap grounds include Blundell Park, Boundary Park (no decent pubs!), The Darlington Arena and Gay Meadow (though Shrewsbury is a nice place so I'll let them off. Plus they do have a new ground)
