Southampton 0-1 Bolton, August 1997. Nathan Blake scored the only goal
First away game Tottenham 7-2 Southampton 1999/2000 season.
2003 FA Cup Semi Final vs. Watford at Villa Park. We won 2-1. Would have been the final against Arsenal had we won. Still was a great day.
Wins against the Skates are always nice as well. As was the 4-0 demolition of Spurs in the FA Cup. 3-2 against Arsenal at St Marys 2002, Man United 1-0 (late Beattie goal August 2003), 3-2 against Charlton (December 03), 3-3 draw with Newcastle (May 2004). 6-0 at Wolves 06/07. The Derby away play off semi final. 3-2 comeback @ Preston (Nov 08). Plus many more.
Man United at home May 2005. The day we were relegated back to the Championship for the first time in 27 years.
I've also seen a number of humiliating cup defeats at places like Rotherham, Peterborough, Bristol Rovers and Notts County. And don't even mention the humilating 4-3 home loss against Leeds when we were 3-0 up at half time. Took a while to get over that one
As mentioned above, a great day for Southampton FC. Saints fans turned up in Cardiff in the morning, got in the ground as soon as the turnstiles opened and sung their hearts out for the whole time. The stadium has a great location, right in the city centre. It was chucking it down with rain when we went, so the roof was on which only made for a better atmosphere. The view I had in the upper tier was fantastic. I don't think I have any complaints what so ever about this fantastic stadium.
It's just not a football ground. Being so far away from the pitch makes it impossible to create a decent atmosphere. I didn't help that the only time I went we got outplayed and humiliated by League 2 Rotherham.
