Sheffield United 1-3 Liverpool
Division One Fixture
25th August 1990
Bramall Lane
Brian Deane scored for United but Ian Rush, John Barnes and Ray Houghton replied for the Reds.
Sheffield United 4-3 Nottingham Forest (AET)
Playoff Semi-Final Second Leg (Agg 5-4)
15th May 2003
Bramall Lane
Simply the best game I have ever witnessed.
United and Forest had drawn 1-1 in the 1st Leg at the City Ground. In this game however, Forest were 0-2 up after an hour, when Michael Brown responded for the Blades.
Steven Kabba equalised with minutes to go to force extra-time. Blades sub Paul Peschisolido unbelievably gave United the lead with five minutes of extra time to go to send us all delirious and the win was sealed when Des Walker headed into his own net to make it 4-2.
The Blades had time to put one in their own net at the other end courtesy of Robert Page to make it 4-3 but the Blades held on and went on to the final.
Wolves 3-0 Sheffield United
Division One Playoff Final
26th May 2003
The Millenium Stadium, Cardiff
This game followed the one above.
After coming from behind to beat Forest, a 3rd place finish and an amazing cup run during the 2002/2003 season, it seemed it was destined for the Blades to go up. However by half time this game was all over - Kennedy, Blake and Miller had given Wolves a three goal cushion and no way back for United, who found time to miss a penalty in the second half. Premiership dream over.
Its just brilliant.
Well first of all I hate Sheffield Wednesday and this stadium is falling apart. I am yet to see the Blades win there, too.
