First Game

First game that I can remember was a Third Division (South) encounter at Swindon when ten men Bristol City managed to draw 2-2 on 23 Oct 1954, but I went on an irregular basis with my father to Ashton Gate previous to this. I started attending regularly from 15 Mar 1958 when I saw City beat Ipswich Town 1-0 at Ashton Gate. Family lore has it that in about 1950 I got separated from my father during a Bristol Rovers match at Eastville and ended up in the care of a policeman watching the game from the touchline.

Best Game

Best Bristol City game was the 1-1 FA Cup 4th match v Blackpool on 24 Jan 1959, but others worth mentioning are City 11 Chichester City 0 FA Cup 1st Round, 5 Nov 1960 and City 8 Walsall 2 at the end of the 2014-15 season. Also worthy of mention, because of the occasion rather than the football itself, was the World Cup Final at Wembley in 1966. My trip to Sincll Bank in 1970 was memorable as it marked my completion of the 92, a feat which I kept up by visiting Cambridge United for their FL debut at the start of the following season.

Worst Game

Too many to list here, but, despite City's high standing in the table, there have been plenty at Ashton Gate this season (2018-19)

I have a dislike of many of the modern stadium as most of them lack character, hence I plumb for the Old Show Ground which certainly wasn't lacking in that respect. I also quite like the grounds of Brechin City and Forfar Athletic.

It might be unfair of me to select Central Park as it has an impressive frontage at the car park end. Unfortunately, the spacious arena is spoilt by the provision made for the Stock Car racing that occurs here.
