List of basic blackjack rules

The basic blackjack rules include the following aspects:

  1. The goal of the game. The goal of blackjack is to set a combination of cards whose sum of points approaches 21, but does not exceed this figure. A player is considered a winner if his point total exceeds the dealer's point total but does not go over 21.
  2. Card Deal. The game begins by dealing two cards to each player, including the dealer. One of the dealer's cards is usually open and the other is usually closed.
  3. Card Valuation. Cards with numbers (2-10) are valued at face value, picture (King, Queen, Jack) are valued at 10 points each, and an Ace can be considered a 1 resp. an 11, as applicable.
  4. Blackjack. If the player or dealer has a "blackjack" (an ace and a 10-point card) immediately after a hand, it is considered a winning option.
  5. Player moves. Players may choose from the following moves:
    • Take a Hit. Take an extra card to increase the amount of points in the hand.
    • Stand. Take no more cards and keep the current point total.
    • Split. If a player has two cards of the same denomination, he can split them into two separate hands and continue playing with them.
    • Double Down. Double the initial bet and receive only one additional card.
    • Dealer's Move. The dealer must draw extra cards if he has less than 17 points in his hand. The dealer stops once he has 17 or more points.
  6. Winning and Losing. Players win if their point total is closer to 21 than the dealer's, or if the dealer is overcalled. If a player's point total exceeds 21, it is considered a loss.
  7. Insurance. A player may place an "insurance" bet against the dealer's blackjack if the dealer's open card is an Ace.

These are the basic rules of blackjack, but it is important to remember that the rules may vary depending on the particular version of the game as well as the casino. It is recommended that you familiarize yourself with the rules of your particular location before playing.
