Interesting and Random Facts About Football Stadiums

Football stadiums are home to some of the most important sports events in the world. As such, these cyclopean constructions are often admired as modern wonders. They are monuments to passion, history and the spirit of the "beautiful game." Sometimes, when trying to work with tips for football banker bets, the capacity and location of a football stadium as the venue of a match can become important, as these factors can influence the outcome of the match.

So, if you consider football stadiums as just a big pile of concrete, think again. There are intriguing aspects that make them unique. In this article, you'll find out about some interesting facts about football stadiums.

They Make People Vote

The Allianz Arena is home to FC Bayern Munich, one of the biggest football clubs in Germany and the world. This stadium was constructed in 2005 and designed exclusively as a football stadium, unlike others.

However, the enormous construction with a capacity of 75,024 seats is not only noteworthy because of its size and state-of-the-art architecture. Before its construction, a referendum was held. The vast majority voted in favour of the construction project. The quorum required was 10 per cent, but the turnout was 37.5 per cent, the highest for any referendum in Bavaria.

The Biggest Stadium is in North Korea

You may think of Wembley Stadium as one of the biggest in the world, and it indeed fits such a description. However, there's another one that dwarfs Wembley. You wouldn't think so because it's not exclusive to football, and it's not in a nation known for football. The monster stadium is in North Korea.

The Rungrado May Day Stadium has a massive capacity of 150,000 seats and a spectacular roof that doubles the size of the King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh, which was the previous record-holder in terms of capacity. In 1995, a wrestling event had an attendance of 190,000 spectators, which is the world record for a wrestling event.

The Longest Roof Support Structure

Wembley Stadium is the stuff of legends. With its 90,000 seats, it's the biggest in the United Kingdom and second in Europe, behind Camp Nou in Barcelona. It doesn't just host some of the most important football matches in the world; it's also the home of rugby, massive concerts, and more.

However, interestingly, its biggest accolade isn't any of these events but rather its roof support. The 133-metre-tall arch is the world's longest roof support structure.

Aqua-Football in Singapore

Singapore is home to one of the world's most unique stadiums. Called The Float, it pays homage to its name by being afloat on water. Located at Marina Bay, it was a temporary replacement for the National Stadium during reforms.

It's a floating platform with six pylons that can hold up to 9,000 people, with a separate stand on the shore for another 30,000 spectators. But what happens if the ball gets kicked out of the stadium in a football match? There's a special boat to collect it!

Stadium Lights

Stadiums have massive columns with some of the most powerful lighting systems available. However, this is strictly regulated. Both FIFA and UEFA have standards to prevent the performance of players from being affected by the lighting system. It also ensures spectators don't experience discomfort, and allows broadcasters to work effectively.
